Are your exams looming? GCSE's, A Levels, GNVQ's...... Don’t panic just yet! Although there is no easy way to ensure success, preparation is key in helping you to get ready for your exams! The tips below will help you organise your time and resources to ensure that you are well equipped – long before the day of your exam.

• First of all, find out the date and time of your exam. Then work backwards from there and plan exactly what you need to do by then.

• Find out the type of questions you are going to asked in your exam (multiple choice/essay answers etc) and ask your teacher what material you need to cover.

• Try to get hold of some past exam papers to work through, as they will also help you get an idea of the type of questions you will be asked.

Revision planning

• Make a revision timetable.

• Here you can prioritise your subjects, set targets for yourself and track your progress.

• Plan breaks into your timetable and try not to do too much at once; if your schedule is realistic you are more likely to stick to it!

• Find a good place to revise – make sure that it is tidy, quiet and somewhere you won’t be disturbed. When you start to revise; make notes and test yourself by writing out some questions and answers to see how much you are remembering.

• You could even record some of your notes to play back later, or try using Flashcards to help you revise.

• Remember to ask for help if you need it.

• Ask your teacher or parents if you think you may need extra help - preparing for an exam can be a stressful time and they are there to support you!

The night before

Organise yourself for the exam the night before to make sure you have what you need (e.g. pens/calculator/dictionary). Try to get a full night’s sleep so that you are alert and focused on the day – you don’t want to be falling asleep during your exam! Good luck
